Quadratic Relationship
Adding to my life, he was a natural. A kindergartener, I counted him on my fingers.
Once whole, he taught me zero. My cardinality an empty set, intervals as the nullity always sequenced by his positive remainders.
An integer, negatives countered by their absolutes, he seemed a median figure. Showing no work, his mental math eclipsed a parabolic plot, and we were at the vertex.
Being rational, but discrete, he divided me. Advanced curriculum, my bell curves skewed, and he transformed the mean. No longer prime, I wished him imaginary.
Learning there is no magic in mathematics. He was real and factored the irrational. My quotient was continuous. Complex problems require more lessons.
But not all equations have a solution. This vector has endpoints.
Passing calculus in my twelfth year, I graduated. In the aftermath, I compute that I am the dividend in a proper fraction. In this perpendicular affair, he is a limited segment.
I am a ray. And I am infinite.
