The nonprofit of my soul raises funds
and hosts opportunity every year
to keep me still.
Let’s get this right, the self I am
smells like a sunset on a Friday:
finger-snapping gorgeous.
Most days, anyway.
There are days I negotiate
with the mirror.
Give me a face with enough
grace for a Valentine’s date.
Lonely tricks
me into dark corners.
I can’t always find the entrance
to love me.
I want to love me so hard
I want to love me so hard
lonely won’t lie.
