Kate Morgan: The Milk Jug Series
ARTIST STATEMENT
This selection of three images is comprised of digital image manipulations created from original paintings made with oil, acrylic, and gouache. The original process of creation involved imprinting several portions of the artist's anatomy (breasts, mons pubis and right hand) on canvas. Digital manipulation processes involved a combination of iPhone apps completed on iPhone7.
The intention of the second painting of this series ("Prometheus meets Pandora") is to create a dual statement contextualizing the status of international copyright law/digital landscapes and the status of female bodies seen as property throughout history by the presentation of disembodied anatomy. The intention of the other two are to create a sense of "copyright claim" for an ideological locus of creation as presented by the "female" body.
